These earrings are inspired by Fucus, a seaweed common along the rocky shorelines of the Salish Sea. Tough, resilient, and deeply rooted, fucus thrives in the intertidal zone — shaped by constant exposure to tide and weather.
The original design was hand-illustrated and hand-cut by me, drawing directly from real fucus specimens. That form was then translated into a laser-cut version to preserve the intricate branching detail at a much smaller scale, allowing the fine structure of the seaweed to remain crisp and legible.
Each pair is finished by hand in sterling silver. Measuring approximately 0.75 inches square, these earrings are lighter and more delicate, with exceptionally detailed negative space that highlights the complexity of the original illustration.
A refined version of my most popular design — quieter, smaller, and intentionally intricate, while still rooted in the same intertidal inspiration.
